Service to my community has been a great joy and responsibility I have treasured. I have served as a Board Member on the Goleta Union School Board since 2016 and advocated for equitable learning environments. Focusing on academic growth for all students and fiscal responsibility has been important as a Board Member. I have supported the development of environmentally sustainable programs on our campuses. Providing dynamic learning environments and professional development for our staff has been a great accomplishment for our community.
Advocating for the highest academic standards and inclusion for all students is my priority. I have served as PTA President for both La Colina Jr. High School and Foothill Elementary School. Serving on the PTA allowed me the opportunity work with families and staff in creating successful programming, funding, and academic support. The PTA organization is the backbone of community engagement and academic support. I have been honored to serve in this role for over six years.
As a teacher, I strived to create equitable learning environments. I focused on math, literature, arts, and science. I believe every student should have access to higher learning and developing success and confidence. Supporting and encouraging each student has always been my top priority. Teaching taught me the importance of a strong School Board supporting teachers, staff, families and students.
Motherhood has given me the multitude of skills and patience. I have learned to multi-task, clearly communicate, patience, and persistence. Being a mother of children who graduated Goleta Union School District gives me a unique understanding of the needs of our school, students, and families.
Business has taught me fiscal responsibility, collaboration, and creativity. I bring these skills from my experience as a business woman into my many roles. I strive to create confidence and positive working relationships with my community. A strong work ethic and love for our community has always been my priority.
